I, Denny Wood, on Oct. 17, 2011, filed the paperwork to run for the Miami-Dade County Mayor in 2012. If the contributions are there to pay the filing fee, I will run. Here is why: I, Denny Wood, after seeing huge salaries given to Department Heads, Deputy Mayors and others in the Mayor's team, I just said" "Enough." The Mayor, Deputy Mayors, Department Heads, Commissioners and Commission aides and all other county administrators and county employee’s can work for $100,000 annually, and I said "Enough". We can get better for a lot less! Government Service is not supposed to be "hitting the lottery". And to the huge County Employee Club of over $100,000+ I just say give it back. Put it in the General Revenue Fund because we will need it this year coming up in 2012. When elected, it will have to be given up. The $100,000+ annual salary club for County Employees is over. "Wake up and smell the daisies, we can't afford you!" However, if an employee could demonstrate innovation in writing that saved the county money then I would support bonus pay. I do not see any such innovation, but it might be there, somewhere. "When classic Americans With Disabilties Act (ADA) ADA violators were retained as Department Heads or appointed as Department heads by the new Mayor, I just said "Enough!" After seeing my requests for an appointment to discus the Status of Disability in County Government, and many other important issues presented to the Mayor and mayoral staff go unanswered I just said ."Enough!" After listening to Commercial Property Owners on their Property taxes, I just said "Enough" When I see "our" government employees and consultants wanting to make the busway loaded with more tolls, when I advocate doing away with all tolls I just say "Enough!" In regards to ADA County Compliance, required in 1990, it has not happened under all of the Mayors and Commissions since that date. 21 years of failure. I will fire all the department ADA coordinators and have just one, working out of the Office of the Mayor. Department Directors and only department directors are responsible for ADA compliance within their departments. For over 30 years the County bureaucrats have run us advocates and me around and it is time just to say "Enough!" Ultimately, in a Charter County it is the Mayor who is the Chief Code Enforcement Officer of all Florida Laws and Building Codes. That is where the buck stops. We have 12 County swimming pools, two have been "under construction" for 2 years. Half of these pools close when school begins. WHY? Some of the pools are heated and NOT SOLAR heated. We need to keep the pools open, 9 AM to 9 PM, every day and operate as a business. Privatization may be the answer. Infants, toddlers, pre-K, Kindergarten, grade school, college students and all other adults need to learn how to swim. I just say "enough of this nonsense!" I invite every reader and taxpayer to join in the building of this, our Mayoral platform. I did not stutter. I said "our" Mayoral platform. Yes, this will be a real "grass roots" Mayoral platform. And yes, I can be mayor for less than $100,000, do at least 40 hours a week, and work on many of the "government worker" holidays. More to follow. I filed to run on October 17, 2011 and this is just part one of us, not me, building the Mayoral platform. Updated: May 2, 2012. Denny Wood 305-253-2563

T DennyWood, Candidate for the
2012 Miami-Dade County Mayor: DENNY WOOD was invited for a signing by Gov. Askew, one of 12 bills in 1974, that I was the pro bono prime "lobbyist" on. My job was to usher them through the legislative process to the desk of the Governor. This bill would change the way commercial buildings and homes and duplexes and larger residential buildings would include facilities for people with disabilities, i.e. ramps, restrooms etc. I, Denny Wood, would returned to the Legislature 12 more times, in 75, 76, 85, 86,87, 89, 93, 94, 04, 05, 06, each time leaving more statutes, appropriations for people with disabilities, all "Pro Bono" efforts. Often, but not always, my expenses were paid by people with disabilities not for profit organizations across Florida. In 2006 I, discovered a great void in the Officer Down Memorial erected in 2000 in the Capitol Courtyard. Police Officers killed in the line of duty got their names added to the base of the memorial. In 2006, I saw that people rarely noticed the memorial. And I decided to fix this with a life size statue. On March 9, 2009 the statue was unveiled. The Governor was the keynote speaker. I, Denny wood, sat in the back row and was recognized verbally that day by the Director of the Police Benevolent Association, John Rivera, as the concept designer of the statue. See more photos and story at www.dignity4disabled.com. Statutes get amended the next year, statues stay
Sometimes being a spokesperson for people with disabilities requires going to court when all else fails. Govenor Chiles, Bush and Crist all pretended that the Amercians with Disabilities Act (ADA) did not exist. What is notable, is these past governors did not have restrooms on their floors that people in wheelchairs could use. No one in wheelchairs could be hired to work on the cabinet level floors. And I have never seen anyone in a wheelchair working in this 22 story capitol building. I was at the ADA bill signing in Washington, DC. And I was one of the people who in the early 1970's laid the foundation for this law. In 1993 and 1994, l passed meaningful legislation at the Florida Legislature, and laid low, knowing the capitol building was loaded with ADA violations and barriers. Retaliation at the Capitol is a real entity to be avoided. During the Jeb Bush administration I attempted to get the Department of Justice to step in and sue the State of Florida. Brother Bush, kind of made such a suit not possible. This suit was pursued up until a year ago with the Department of Justice. Giving up, our Florida Paraplegic Association, Inc. sued. No lawyer would take the case. I ended up doing it pro se. The first judge dismissed the suit without prejudice as I was not a "lawyer" and could not represent our corporation. Still no lawyer would take the case. I eliminated the FPA and filed the suit pro se as myself as the plaintiff. The State decided "not to fight the suit" and began removing barriers at the Capitol building. The state wasted 120 days with extentions to do the settlement. The case will go to mediation. There is a lot more more to this lawsuit, including the state acknowledging the retaliation I experienced in 2005 and 2006 for publishing the ADA Capitol Report in 2004 on www.dignity4disabled.com a web site I also publish. ADA LAWSUIT AGAINST THE STATE OF FLORIDA SETTLED. Read more at www.dignity4disabled.com The Settlement can be viewed at by clicking on "here.):
When the suit is concluded, the state buidings in Florida will have an ADA transition plan, even though it was supposed to be created in 1992. And barrier removal willfollow. The City of Miami, was also sued for this missing ADA Transition Plan, and by the Florida Paraplegic Associaition, Inc.
ADA barrier removal is a tough business and Miami-Dade County is over ripe for anADA lawsuit. Too many parks, new facilities, and older buildings just keep being put aside on the ADA barrier removal. This is a result of historically excluding people with disabilites in County hiring practices. When you don't get hired, you do not move up the ladder into policy making positions. People with disabilities are included in words in the County Affirmative Action Ordinance but in annual reports, not a page is written on people with disabilities. They are not hired or recruited by the County. OUR DIRTY WATER MAYOR AND COMMISSION ARE SEEKING AN EXTENSION TO STOP PUMPING DIRTY SEWAGE WATER INTO THE OCEAN.
SB 724 and HB 989 are to delay the deadline for this dirty water pumping now and until 2025. Each year the water and sewer money is raided to pay for other items in the county budget, items not having to do with the water and sewer department. Http://reefrescuealtert.wordpress.com and Http://www.reefrelief.org who were also fighting our county lobbyists to kill this bill. As mayor, I will involve the entire community to stop the dirty water dumping, approximately 360,000,000 million gallons a day, into our ocean. I am proud to say that I was one of the pro bono lobbyists helping to kill the county administrator's dirty water bill and asked the Chair, of the last committee, not to withdraw the bill and let it die in commitee. It was not withdrawn and died, thanks to Senator Alexander. I had worked with Senator Alexander to get many extra millions for the Division of Vocational Rehabiliation Program in 2004, 2005. And the appropriation for 1million for quadriplegics in 2006 went through Senator Alexander's committee. Bush vetoed it all over the ADA Capitol Report posted at www.dignity4disabled.com. ***************************************************************** WATER & SEWERS, About to be Fined again by the Feds. The Water and Sewer Department is solvent. Money collected for water is also to be used to build new sewers and replace old worn sewer lines. UNFORTUNATELY, Commissioners and Mayors raid this Money Fund, to balance the entire county budget. They over pay administration, when such administration can be purchased for much less. They fund, Departments, that are not essential for running the County. The current gutless "no new taxes" mayor and commissioners running for re-election have no intentions of adding at least a half billion to the 2012 County Budget. I believe this effort would satisfy the Feds, and keep the fines from coming. These elected officials, annual water and sewer money pot raiders, rather face 2 million or more fines from the Feds or major sewer disasters. And that money just will cover the beginning of the sewer rebuilding and cleaning up the expensive dirty water dumping. They are counting on ignorant voters to not see this "time bomb" ticking. Time bomb is not my words. This description comes from the Director of the Water and Sewer Department. When elected, we, the citizens, will begin the costly correction of worn out sewer lines, stop the money raids of the funds for this purpose and make the entire Sewer and Ocean dumping of dirty water very transparent. CERVICAL CANCER PROJECT; Vaccine everyone. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/hpv/default.htm#vacc As Mayor I will do everything possible to alert families with children, age 9 and older,
female and male, about HPV vaccines that are available and necessary to prevent
Cervical Cancer. This vaccine protection is ESSENTIAL for our children and
prevents this nasty, horrible cancer of the female cervix. This is the area that leads to the
vagina. This simple information, leading to the vaccinatations will prevent very costly
medical procedures and deaths. Vaccination wiped out polio, vaccination will wipe
out Cervical Cancer.
As I work on this project I am in shock that Teachers of 5th grade students and another
teacher from Rober Morgan do not know about this vaccine. I gave them several of the 5,000 cards I printed. More shocks, are this is not on the Planned Parenthood web site, or the American Cancer web site.
I have learned that The Miami-Dade Health Department gives the vaccine shots FREE to children 9-18, but this is the best kept secret in the County. Adults pay $144, for the three shots and a $14.00 administrative fee.
To find the locations of these free vaccines is like looking for a needle in the hay stack:
http://www.dadehealth.org/healthcenters.asp
This is where the Miami-Dade free vaccine locations are found. There is a one line in the phone book that reads Health Department-Miami Dade County....305-324-2400. No where on the www.miamidade.gov site is there the Cervical Cancer Vaccination clue to this number or web site. We can change that. And we can change every single government web site, every hospital web site and other such sites of people who should care, but don't.
MOTHERS AND FATHERS SHOULD BE OUTRAGED FOR NOT GETTING THE FACTS ON THIS 2006 VACCINATION. AND THEY SHOULD THINK CONSPIRACY. VACCINATING THE CHILDREN WILL DEPRIVE DOCTORS, HOSPITALS BILLIONS IN SURGERY, RADIATION AND CHEMO. When their children become adults, develop Cervical Cancer because they were not vaccinated, it is a major windfall for the medical profession and hospitals. They want the insurance money. Yes, I believe these hospitals and medical people are that greedy for warm bodies to work on and bill, bill, bill, bill. Vaccination is counter productive for the bottom line, billions of dollars.

CERVICAL CANCER VACCINE:
www.miamidade.gov
http://ask.miamidade.gov/index.zul?search=CERVICAL%20CANCER%20VACCINE
There apparently is zero information on this County Web Site. The Mayor should be ashamed of himself. If there is an article or Cervical Cancer Vaccine reference on this site I cannot find it. The Heads should roll in this Department. And they will when I am elected Mayor.
I cannot change these web sites alone. The task is too overwhelming. I need some volunteers pitching in to change these Web sites without Cervical Cancer Vaccine Information It must be added to their web sites. :
NO CERVICAL CANCER INFO ON THE FOLLOWING WEB SITES: University of Miami Hospital. As incredible as it may seen, there is no easy Cervical
Cancer Vaccine Information in this web site. This may change with the students lobbying the U of M establishment. The conspiracy theory applies. These doctors get rich with Cervical Cancer surgery, radiation and chemo. It is all about money. Look at the salaries of the administration. http://umiamihospital.com/patient_care/patient_services/gyn_womens_services Jackson Memorial Hospital: http://www.jhsmiami.org/body.cfm?id=11 No Cervical Cancer Vaccine information easily found on their web site. This should be an easy lobby as this hospital administrator does not know anything about medicine or cancer prevention. The conspiracy theory applys to hospitals. Prevention means no insurance money for surgery, radiation and chemo. Planned Parenthood.- No Cervical Cancer Vaccine information. Best way to change the web site is volunteers lobbying. American Cancer Society - No Cervical Cancer Vaccine information: Best way is volunteers must lobby to add Cervical Cancer Vaccine to the web site. Why would they not want to champion Cervical Cancer Vaccine and Prevention? CHI in Miami and Homestead - No Cervical Cancer Information. Call the administration and make it part of their web site, complete with info and costs. MIAMI DADE COUNCIL OF PTA'S: No Cervical Cancer information. This is where the lobbying of the school system can start. And they need to amend their web site: http://www.dccptaptsa.org/ E-mail them at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Teachers I have met do not know about this letter on the School Web Site. The school administration must involve the PTA's at every school. We must reach the powerful insurance companies in America. This vaccination will bring medical insurance down. One wonders why the Insurance Companies are not requiring this vaccination as part of the Insurance Policy. Maybe the are. Someone tell me.
**************************************************************** COCONUT GROVE PLAYHOUSE This Playhouse should be open and operational. Two mayors should have solved this problem long ago. Even if it requires the total termination of the Miami Dade Cultural Affairs Department. When elected, this Playhouse issue will be solved within 30 days, and the restoration will commence. PIT BULL REPEAL ORDINANCE letter from Commissioner Patrick Fiore and I concur with his assessment on this now on the August ballot issue, by our gutless County Commission. "Yes, Mr. Wood I concur whole heartedly, in July 2006, my daughter who Our current economy needs new industry and new jobs. I have watched the gaming industry bills at the 2012 state legislature and have determined this is not where gaming should be addressed. People in Florida need to vote on gaming, the new jobs and billions it will bring into our Florida Economy. Like we did with the lottery we must amend the Florida Constitution. I have written and will pursue the following Florida Constitutional Amendments: SECTION 14 COMMISSION ON GAMING There shall be a Commission on Gaming composed of seven members, of which shall have had not less than five years prior business experience at a management level in the gaming industry, appointed by the governor, that will consist of different gaming interests. Membership will be limited to four years, and no member can serve more that two consecutive terms. Reappointment may occur after 4 years. Florida Statutes precluding slot machines, and other gaming equipment and casinos are rendered moot. The commission shall exercise the regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to and shall also exercise regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to gaming, excluding the State Lottery. The commission shall establish procedures to ensure adequate due process in the exercise of its regulatory and executive functions. The commission’s exercise of executive powers shall be to encourage the industry of gaming, enhance competition, insure that the odds are industry standard or set forth by the Gaming Commission, and that machines used are using industry standard payouts, as set forth by the Gaming Commission. Gaming businesses will pay a 10% of revenues, monthly and such revenues will be collected by the Department of Revenue and shall be distributed (9% to) by the Commission to county boards of education and 1% shall be dedicated to gambling addiction programs licensed by the Gaming Commission. . Tax revenue collected by the state from gaming operations shall be allocated such that not less than 85% of those revenues are to be given to public education. These provisions shall not apply to general sales taxes collected from the sale of merchandise. Since we are out there collecting petitions we can solve the making taxpayers out of minimum level tax recipients: And at the same time we can correct the abuse heaped on ex-felons who have done their time, paid their dues to society: 8. As mayor I would terminate the
"contract lobbyists" who are

includes Ronnie Book and his
influence peddling, the "buying" of
legislators and county elected officials.
Giving Ronnie Book $250,000 plus
expenses for "part time" lobbying for
the county, and representing other
corporate clients does not "wash" or
mix. Miami Dade employees adequately
lobby for the County at the legislature.
And they DO NOT get $250,000 for a
sixty day session yearly. They do
the work at the capitol full time, not
with divided corporate interests.
The County Commission should be
ashamed of this annual $250,000, plus
pay out to Ronnie Book. Especially
commissioners who accept campaign
contributions from the Ronnie Book
money machine. The Commission in
January voted to retain lobbyist
Book and his money machine.
Book is still getting $200,000.00
