Campaign Sign Vandal Arrested
John Chiarenza, an attorney and a member of the Board of Directors at the Briarwinds Condominimum Association, where I reside, was arrested by police for destroying, stealing and vandalizing my campaign signs.
I, Denny Wood, had to hire a private investigator to stake out and photograph the vandal. A video of Mr. Chiarenza was provided to police who went to his home and arrested him.
His arraignment is August 31, 2010 at 8:00 AM. and the State's Attorney Office, Public Corruption, will be involved as they take the vandalizing of campaign signs very seriously. A conviction could cost Chiarenza his license to practice law.
A trial date was set for Oct. 4, 2010, but was postponed by a motion from Chiarenza for a continuance

UPDATE: Chiarenza entered a plea of "Not Guilty" On August 31, 2010.
He, on release from jail, stickered my van for "illegal parking" in my own parking space. And then again for not having a rear bumper. (I broke it in a field staking out my signs one night.) It is actually a blessing as I can get close to my rear van doors. It was a Step Bumper. He has again stickered my van for the Denny Wood and Maurice Ferre bumper stickers on the van. Chiarenza is clearly on the warpath.
I have recieved a letter/citation for using my mask and snorkel in the pool, something that allows me to swim on my chest/stomach effectively. I have used the mask and snorkel in the pool since 1993. Chiarenza has photographed me in the pool lots.
He saw me driving my van into another resident's space the day he was released from jail and was calling to have my van towed. Several residents jumped on him, letting him know that I was helping to jump start a vehicle, on request, and he was talked out of calling the tow truck.
All of these events happened since his August 31 court date and Labor Day.
The State Attorney is seeking more witnesses to the sign destruction, removal of signs and tampering of the signs.
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 27, 2010
The trial date is October 4, at 9:15 AM. The charge is for only one sign. This is a second degree misdemeanor and the state cannot seek jail time. This trial date was postponed due to a continuance motion. A new trial date will be announced.
To catch him removing more signs means paying a detective, and I am out of personal money to catch him again. His new method of operation is to simply remove the signs at night, and the signs missing or ruined is now over a 100 signs.
Chiarenza would falsely allege that I violated stay away orders, which resulted in one arrest, and $20,000 bonds, twice. And another bond of $2,500.
All of these "domestic violation" charges and the charge against Chiarenza ended up with a mutual "stay away" court order, signed by both parties. Chiarenza would violate the stay away order repeatedly, at least 3 police reports were generated. Neither the Judge or the State Attorney would enforce Chiarenza's stay away violations. He then would access fines of over $8,500 on the property I resided in at Briarwinds Condominium Association. As a new owner of December 2006, he managed to be appointed to the Board in the fall of 2007, stressing his legal status as an Attorney. His mission was to "get rid of Denny Wood" and he proceeded to two two my vans for alleged oil leaks, and amassed many alleged violation of rules letters in a case building effort. For 3-1/2 years Chiarenza launched a reign of terror on me. And the Courts let him get away with it. The Court dismissed a restraining order on Chiarenza, upheld a restraining order on me when he went for a gun stapped on his hip that he went for to kill me, and was "out drawn" by me with mace. This "get rid of Denny Wood" action began in a formal board meeting after the Board discussed the increased insurance and attorney fees originating out of a Pool Lift Law Suit. The Board's insurance was not renewed, and went to $8500 from $1100 due to the actions of the Board. Who directed the blame on me. In 2011 there was an eviction trial over the alleged violations and I found myself evicted and out of my home since 1993, although I have a lease that ends in 2050. The rent is now put into a court registry.
This case is in the Court of Appeals. Hopefully, there will be a fair trial and the retaliation issue will be fairly presented. Chiarenza will then have one more opportunity to present all his false claims, how he assessed over $8500 in fines in his Board member assault.
This sign vandal a brain damaged attorney, in good standing with the Florida Bar, and clearly out smarted one judge, my lawyer, me and the State Attorney.
